AQU organizes closing ceremony of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations for the 2021 term

Jerusalem | The Faculty of Medicine and the Deanship of Student Affairs at Al-Quds University (AQU) organized the closing ceremony of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) for the 2021 term. Sponsored by Siniora Food Industries and New Elite Pharma, the event was attended by students of Medicine, in preparation for the next elections of the committees.

The Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Suhair Ureikat, said that the goal of IFMSA’s committees is to integrate students into the local community by providing real opportunities and carrying out workshops and other activities. She praised the role of association’s board in providing the opportunity for their colleagues to train and participate professionally during their studies, which indicates the university’s interest in providing extracurricular activities to its students.

Dean of the Students Affairs Dr. Abdul-Raouf Al-Sinnawi noted that IFMSA has become an incubator that is capable to achieve the university’s vision, calling on the students to embrace new ideas and implement them on the ground.

Representative of New Elite Pharma, Miss Queen Majrouh, expressed the company’s efforts to build community relations and support students. She provided an overview of the history of the company, pledging to expand cooperation with AQU.

The president of the association, Yazan Abu Drai’, touched on the activities that were organized during the 2021 term, which included the social and professional integration of medical students, the provision of research-exchange opportunities, workshops, and training courses, as well as the representation in national and international forums.

A branch of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA), IFMSA-Palestine is a local medical students’ association. It is the international forum of Palestinian medical students including the medical schools of the West Bank, and Gaza. This association, may be the largest students’ forum in Palestine, was founded in 2004, became part of IFMSA in the General Assembly of the international federation in March 2005, and got the full membership in August 2006.
