The Community Action Center (CAC) at Al-Quds University, in cooperation with Ruwwisat Foundation, organized a cultural and recreational tour to the village of Al-Walaja in the Bethlehem Governorate for women participating in the Center’s 2024 training programs.

The tour aimed to introduce participants to the historical significance of Al-Walaja village, including a visit to the olive tree recognized as the oldest in the world, estimated to be approximately 5,000 years old. During the visit, participants also learned about the Ruwwisat Foundation and its community-based role and initiatives within the village.

It is worth noting that the Community Action Center is one of Al-Quds University’s centers in Jerusalem. Located in the Old City, the Center was established in 1999 with the mission of serving the Jerusalemite community through a community-based, rights-oriented approach grounded in the principles of human rights, justice, and equality.

Over the years, the Center has developed and expanded its programs to respond to the multidimensional needs of the most marginalized groups. It provides legal, social, educational, and women’s empowerment services, working to enable Jerusalemites to claim, defend, and safeguard their rights.
