May 26, 2025 — The Community Action Center (CAC) at Al-Quds University held an exhibition and diplomatic briefing to highlight the humanitarian impact of Israel’s ban on family reunification, with a particular focus on its effects on Palestinian women in Jerusalem.

This event marked the culmination of the “Women in Isolation” project, which brought two groups of Palestinian women residing in occupied East Jerusalem. These women live under the constraints of the discriminatory family reunification ban, which fragments families and imposes severe limitations on their daily lives.

At the end of the project, the women were invited to take photographs symbolizing how they feel living under the ban and to write a short story from their lives connected to the ban. The result was an exhibition, highlighting the resilience and strength of Palestinian women who live under an institutionalised regime of racial oppression and domination..

The event also featured a presentation highlighting the human impact of so-called exceptions to the general denial of family reunification, which reveal complex social realities that further marginalize and isolate Palestinian women.

The Community Action Center, located in Aqabat Al-Khalidiya in the Old City of Jerusalem, provides free legal and community services related to residency status and national insurance issues.
