The President of Al-Quds University, Prof. Dr. Hanna Abdel Nour, welcomed the esteemed guest, Prof. Dr. Marwan Al-Dweiri, a specialist in the fields of therapeutic, medical, and educational psychology, as well as Talab Al-Sanea, a former member of the Knesset, within the framework of a scientific visit, which was designed to foster academic collaboration and provide students with the opportunity to engage in a discussion surrounding Prof. Al-Dweiri’s book, “The Trapped Mind: Patterns of Thinking that Hinder the Renaissance of Arab Society.” The lecture was conducted in the presence of Dr. Ola Hussein, head of the Department of Psychology, and Dr. Iyad Al-Hallaq, head of the Department of Educational Science at Al-Quds University.
Prof. Abdelnour welcomed the guests, stressing the importance of this visit in enriching the educational and research process at the university in psychology and mental health in particular, as it includes distinguished academic figures in the field of psychology.
He elaborated on the significance of this visit, particularly in light of the university’s recent development of a document aimed at establishing a center for Palestinian thought, adding, “We aspire to utilize the center as a platform to reshape Palestinian thought in a manner that aligns with the needs of our society and our national identity. It is imperative that we cultivate our own independent thought, one that reflects our identity and serves our aspirations.”
He further elaborated that the university will prioritize the expansion of this initiative during the subsequent phase, with the objective of attracting additional experts and academics to contribute to the development of this center, thereby establishing it as a beacon of thought and creativity.
“I am honored to be among a distinguished academic elite at Al-Quds University, and I highly appreciate the efforts made to promote academic and research thought in various fields, as the initiative to establish the center confirms the university’s unwavering commitment to its national and academic obligation,” said Prof. Dr. Marwan Al-Dweiri.
Al-Sanea emphasized the pioneering role played by Al-Quds University in supporting thought in addition to its educational mission, pointing out that the university is not only an academic edifice but also a platform for promoting cultural and intellectual awareness, praising the university’s ongoing efforts in attracting scientists, writers, and thinkers.
Dr. Al-Duwairi delivered a lecture to the students of the Department of Psychology and Social Work, where he was introduced by Dr. Iyad Al-Hallaq, who stated: “Dr. Al-Duwairi is a specialist in the fields of therapeutic, medical, and educational psychology, in addition to being a researcher in the domain of cross-cultural psychology. He has made distinguished scientific contributions in this field.”
During his meeting with students, the lecturer discussed his book, “The Trapped Mind: Patterns of Thinking that Hinder the Renaissance of Arab Society,” in which he addressed contemporary issues in the domain of therapeutic psychology and the most prominent challenges facing psychological specialists in the modern era.
