Biochemistry is inherently interdisciplinary in nature and fundamental to every other branch of biomedical sciences. The department of biochemistry and Molecular Biology belongs to the Faculty of Medicine-Al-Quds University. It is one of the basic medical sciences departments in the Faculty. The staff (2 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors, 1 technicians and 2 teaching assistant) have diverse teaching and research interests and expertise. The department enhances public understanding of biochemistry and molecular biology by providing the students with opportunities to participate in practical sessions and experimental learning activities. For postgraduate students, the department has been conducting academic and research activities in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
The department of biochemistry and molecular biology is committed to teaching general and metabolic biochemistry, molecular biology and medical genetics courses for the first and second year medical students and biochemistry courses I and II for other students i.e Pharmacy, dental and public health. Moreover, we are running a postgraduate program in Biochemistry and molecular biology with research interest and a commitment to excellent teaching at the postgraduate level. This mission aligns with the institutional and faculty missions of advancing knowledge
– Provide education and work environments that are characterized by mutual respect, personal responsibility, fairness and equality
– Teach molecular biology and biochemistry courses to our students in a way that correlate between these courses and other medical basic sciences
– To make the optimum use of time allocated for teaching biochemistry and molecularbiology by using both lectures and practical sessions
– Produce medical graduates with a sufficient knowledge of biochemical and molecular aspects of several metabolic diseases
