The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at Al-Quds University organized an introductory meeting for its new students on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, aiming to facilitate their integration into the university environment and to provide an opportunity for them to acquaint themselves with members of the academic and administrative staff.

The Dean of the Faculty of Health Professions, Dr. Rania Abu Sir, extended a cordial welcome to the newly enrolled students and faculty members, underscoring the department’s recent accomplishment. Al-Quds University has attained a noteworthy distinction as the first institution in Palestine, the second in the Middle East, and the third outside the United States, to offer its enrolled graduate students the opportunity to apply for the American Board Examination, administered by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Dr. Abu Sir underscored the significance of this accreditation in terms of its potential to expand the professional and academic horizons of graduates, facilitating their enrollment in postgraduate programs at highly regarded international universities.

For his part, Dr. Hatem Aida, Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, delivered an exposition on the academic program’s intricacies and its organization over the course of four years. He explained to the students the key points related to their academic schedules and the distribution of courses, ensuring a balanced development of their theoretical and practical skills.

Given what has been said, Dr. Ibrahim Ghanam, a lecturer in the department and the head of the department’s guidance and student affairs committee, underscored the significance of the various committees within the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences. He proceeded to introduce the members of these committees to the students, highlighting their substantial contributions to the educational process. These contributions benefit both students and faculty members alike. In her remarks, Dr. Suha Al-Batmeh, head of the Practical Training Committee at the department, underscored the imperative of adhering to the laboratories and practical training, as they constitute an indispensable component of the educational program and facilitate the effective integration of students into their respective specializations.
