Terms of Reference (ToR): Recruitment of Technical Coordinator
Center for Cleaner Production (CCP) – Al-Quds University, Jerusalem
“The CCP offers diverse services that aim to enhance the sustainable development of the industries and economy, including comprehensive capacity-building training and service – oriented programs on sustainable consumption and production, cleaner production techniques, environmental and energy management systems, auditing tools for sustainability, best practices in resource efficiency and waste minimization. The center works on fostering collaboration between academia and industry aiming to make a significant impact in driving the transition to a circular economy. For realizing its roles, the CCP collaborate with the different entities affiliated to the University, including the Business Center of Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship (B-CITE) in empowering eco-innovation and entrepreneurship.”
Position Title: Technical Coordinator, Center for Cleaner Production (CCP)
Reporting Line
Reports to the Chairman of the CCP Steering Council, comprising key national industrial development stakeholders.
Job Purpose
The Technical Coordinator will assist in leading the CCP in advancing sustainable industrial development through:
- Professional training in clean technology, resource efficiency, and sustainable industrial practices.
- Technical services for industry, including energy and environmental assessments, decarbonization strategies, and compliance with national and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership and Management
- Execute CCP’s strategic vision aligned with goals.
- Manage operations and staff to ensure the efficient delivery of programs.
- Represent the CCP as needed on national and international platforms, and cultivate strategic partnerships.
2. Technical and Training Programs
- Assist in overseeing the design and implementation of training programs on cleaner production, energy efficiency, and environmental management.
- Assist in technical assessments, including energy audits, resource efficiency evaluations, and decarbonization planning.
- Ensure services align with environmental regulations and international certification standards.
3. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
- Coordinate with the chairman of the Steering Council to align CCP activities with industrial priorities and policy developments.
- Coordinate and maintain partnerships with industry, academia, and international organizations (e.g., EU agencies, GIZ, UNEP, UNDP, UNIDO).
- Lead fundraising efforts and secure grants through proposal development and strategic collaborations.
4. Research and Innovation
- Coordinate between CCP and the University in promoting applied research in cleaner production, circular economy, and low-carbon industrial processes, including PtX.
- Facilitate knowledge exchange between academia and industry on sustainable technologies.
- Cooperate closely with the Business Center of Innovation and Technology and Entrepreneurship (BCITE) in Jerusalem on matters of mutual interest.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Professional and Leadership Experience
- At least 4 years of experience in industrial sustainability, energy efficiency, or cleaner production.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing teams, developing partnerships, and executing strategic activities.
- Technical expertise in environmental/energy measurement tools and industrial assessments.
- Experience in industry training, consultancy, or technical services is preferred.
- Proven success in grant writing and fundraising for sustainability projects.
- Engagement with industry associations, policymakers, or international sustainability programs.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations, decarbonization frameworks, and certification schemes (e.g., European CBAM, etc.)
Contract Terms
- Duration: Initial one-year, renewable based on performance.
- Remuneration: Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.
