The Cleaner Production Center (CPC) Steering Committee held its second meeting to discuss key topics including upcoming plans for scaling up, methodology, and headquarters.
The meeting was initiated by discussing the Center’s headquarters, which is expected to officially open in early June 2025, and the recent collaboration between the Center and the American University of Beirut (AUB) in March.
Prof. Imad Al-Khatib, Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors, presented a live webinar on the Palestinian success story in implementing UNIDO’s TEST toolkit, highlighting the TEST methodology, associated tools and concepts, and the positive outcomes on industries, the environment, and the national economy.
In addition, the status of the SMILE project was presented, whose activities will include training of trainers (ToT) and an orientation day for technicians and engineers. Moreover, the TEST methodology was showcased through three case studies illustrating the impact of the methodology on three different companies, where the Country Cooperation Program’s dialogues with UNIDO and GIZ show promising future partnerships.
The Center’s Scaling Up Plan, a document prepared in collaboration with UNIDO and with the participation of all stakeholders in the country, presented 5 out of 12 tracks, representing the priority action plans in the CEP Roadmap with appropriate institutional setup, timeframe and expected budget, and as one of the core plans on the RCC agenda, feedback and comments will be requested from each of the sectors of the represented members.
