French Consul General in Jerusalem Visits Al-Quds University and Discusses Means of Joint Cooperation with its President

Al-Quds University President Prof. Dr. Hanna Abdelnour, received the French Consul General in Jerusalem Mr. Nicolas Kassianides and his accompanying delegation on an official visit aimed at enhancing academic and research cooperation between the university and French educational institutions. The meeting was attended by Dr. Safa Nassereldin, Head of the Computer Engineering Department; Dr. Muneer Nuseibah, Director of the Legal Clinic; and Dr. Radwan Qasrawi, Director of the Jerusalem Center for Technology and Entrepreneurship.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Abdelnour welcomed the French Consul, praised the historical relations between Al-Quds University and French academic institutions, and discussed the French support for many projects and programs at the university and at its Jerusalem campus.

Prof. Dr. Abdelnour spoke about the university’s establishment, its history of achievements, the academic development of its modern programs and specializations that maintain pace with the labor market, explaining the challenges it faces and how the university addresses them, as well as the unique success stories that stem from the university family with its academics and students.

He pointed out the university’s plans to develop its relations with various international institutions, as this cooperation serves the Palestinian and Jerusalem community, indicating the importance of expanding these partnerships to include student and research exchange programs that provide students with openness to the world and cultural exchange.

Dr. Nasreddin, Dr. Nusseibeh, and Dr. Qasrawi spoke about the projects supported by French institutions, thanking the Consulate and French institutions for this support, and looking forward to more constructive cooperation to support higher education in Palestine.

For his part, Mr. Kassianides affirmed France’s commitment to supporting higher education in Palestine, expressing his appreciation for the role Al-Quds University plays in promoting scientific research and developing its academic programs and staff. He also emphasized their interest in the legal rights of Palestinians and in ensuring a dignified standard of living for them. Also, He expressed the readiness of the French Consulate to provide the necessary support to expand the horizons of cooperation between the university and French universities in various specializations and projects.

During the visit, the delegation toured Al-Quds Center for Technology and Entrepreneurship and the University’s Legal Clinic. This visit comes within the framework of joint efforts to strengthen academic and research relations between Palestine and France and to open new horizons for cooperation in the fields of education and scientific research, which has been going on for many years.
