Al-Quds University and German GIZ inaugurate new lab at Dual Studies

Al-Quds University and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) inaugurated a new industrial engineering laboratory at the Faculty of Dual Studies, with the support of the German Development Bank “KfW”.

The inauguration ceremony followed the signing of an agreement of cooperation in research and student exchange by the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Imad Abu Kishek and the head of the program of More Job Opportunities for Palestinian Youth, Dr. Steffen Antenmann, in the presence of a delegation from the German Agency and Representative Office, representatives of the private sector, university vice presidents, and Dual Study staff.

Abu Kishek expressed his satisfaction for the achievements of the Dual Studies program and the support the German GIZ, stressing the importance of the cooperation that brings together the two parties in several development projects for the benefit of the students.

The university president pointed to the close attention paid by Al-Quds University to Dual Studies help build bridges of cooperation and partnership between the academic institutions and the private sector.

Deputy Head of German Cooperation Development at the German Representative Office, Mrs. Anne Hitzgrad, expressed her gratitude for this fruitful cooperation in providing financial and technical support for the dual studies program.

Dr. Steffen Antenmann thanked the partners in the private sector for their efforts in investing in students by offering training and employing them after graduation. He expressed pride in the partnership with Al-Quds University, stressing and the need to focus on maintaining the level of the students and strengthening relations with the private sector.

It is noteworthy that the Dual Studies program at Al-Quds University is the first of its kind in Palestine and the Middle East. It aims to develop the academic programs by integrating theoretical and practical education. Through the program, the university aspires to reduce unemployment rates among young people and engage them in the labor market.

 Further, Al-Quds University is implementing the program with the support of the German government, in cooperation with the German Cooperation Agency “GIZ”, the German Development Bank “KFW”, the “GFA” consulting company and other partners. The Dual Studies program offer five majors: Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Information Technology and Digital Business.
