On Sunday 5th April, the Venezuelan Ambassador, Mr. Luis Daniel Lugo, visited Al-Quds University. Mr. Lugo’s visit aimed to discuss the cooperation between the Venezuelan government and institutions and Al-Quds University. The university’s President, Dr Imad Abu Kishek, the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr Hussein Jadou, and Vice President for Science and Society, Professor Hasan Dweik were all at the ambassador’s reception.
Dr Imad Abu Kishik welcomed the visiting group and affirmed the deep relationship between Palestinian and Venezuelan governments and people and stressed the need to upkeep these relationships at all stages.
Dr. Imad Abu Kishik spoke about the university’s academic programs and scientific research projects that are carried out in collaboration with international universities and institutions. Furthermore, he expressed his desire to continue to expand the Palestinian- Venezuelan university relations as a way to promote cooperation. This relationship was ignited by the efforts of the late leader Hugo Rafael Chavez, who was well known for his support of Palestine, as well as his efforts to rally international support for Palestinians to achieve their legal rights.
It’s worth mentioning that the Venezuelan ambassador emphasized the Venezuelan Government’s support for Palestinian people. He also expressed his readiness to move forward in opening the path for academic and scientific cooperation between Al-Quds University and Venezuelan universities.
Mr. Lugo also met with the students in the Arabic Poetry theater, and emphasized the importance of Al-Quds University in Jerusalem and its role. He expressed his admiration for this scientific, academic and research progress that occurs at Al-Quds University everyday.
