Dean Message

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at Al-Quds University, a Faculty established with an ambitious academic and professional vision responding to Palestine’s needs in animal health, public health, sustainable agriculture, food safety and quality, and food security.

The establishment of this Faculty comes at a time when Palestine faces increasing challenges related to limited natural resources, climate change, livestock health and productivity, zoonotic diseases, food safety, and the need for more efficient, sustainable, and resilient agricultural and food systems.

We therefore do not view veterinary medicine merely as the treatment of animals, agriculture merely as conventional production, or food technology as an isolated manufacturing activity. Rather, we view them as interconnected components of a system linking human health, animal health, environmental health, and food systems.

The Faculty currently brings together three major academic programs: the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Professional B.Sc. in Sustainable Agriculture, and Food Technology and Quality.

Our educational philosophy is centered on learning through practice. Students should graduate not only knowing scientific information but also possessing the ability to apply it effectively in real professional settings.

We therefore aim to connect our students with farms, food and dairy-processing facilities, cattle, sheep, goat and poultry farms, equine facilities, aquaculture systems, veterinary clinics and hospitals, laboratories, and relevant institutions and companies.

In Veterinary Medicine in particular, we aspire to develop a progressive training pathway beginning with foundational competencies, followed by field and clinical experience, and culminating in intensive fifth-year clinical exposure to real cases under professional supervision.

We also seek to establish a broad network of national, regional, and international partnerships and benefit from the experience of distinguished veterinary faculties and teaching hospitals in the region and internationally.

Our ultimate objective is not merely to graduate students with new degrees, but to prepare veterinarians who protect animal and human health, agricultural professionals who develop sustainable and economically viable production systems, and food specialists who contribute to a safe, high-quality, and competitive Palestinian food industry.

We envision the Faculty as a national platform for applied education, research, innovation, and community engagement, and as a genuine partner for farmers, veterinarians, the private sector, and national and international institutions.

Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine

The Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at Al-Quds University responds to the growing Palestinian need for highly qualified professionals in veterinary medicine, modern and sustainable agriculture, and food safety and quality.

The Faculty is founded on the understanding that these fields are deeply interconnected. Animal health affects human health; agricultural production is fundamental to food security; and food safety begins at the farm and continues throughout production, processing, storage, distribution, and consumption.

The Faculty currently brings together three main academic programs:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Professional B.Sc. in Sustainable Agriculture, and Food Technology and Quality through the Dual Studies system. These three programs are currently grouped under the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in the University’s official listings.

The Faculty seeks to build an academic model integrating:

Education + Training + Research + Innovation + Community Service + Labor-Market Partnership.

Its philosophy extends learning beyond classrooms and laboratories, making farms, factories, clinics, veterinary hospitals, laboratories, and companies integral components of the educational experience.
