Prof. Dr. Ahmad Amro Participates in an International Conference on the Role of Scholars in Society

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Amro, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Quds University, participated in the international conference “The Standing and Understanding of Scholars in Society: Arab and German Perspectives,” organized by the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) in Tunis, Tunisia, from 5–7 December 2025. The conference was held in cooperation with Leipzig University (Dr. Luise Fischer) and the University of Ottawa, Canada (Prof. Dr. Jan Völkel).

During the conference, Prof. Amro delivered a lecture entitled “Academic Resilience in Crisis: The Role of Pharmacy Education in Palestine.” His presentation highlighted academic resilience under crisis conditions and emphasized the societal role of pharmacy education in Palestine, including community engagement, ethical scholarship, and the importance of international academic cooperation.

Prof. Dr. Amro also addressed the realities of academic work in Palestine and the role of pharmacy faculties in responding to health and community needs during times of crisis. The lecture focused on the contribution of pharmacists to supporting the healthcare system, addressing medication shortages, adapting academic practices through blended learning, enhancing scientific communication with the community, and promoting community-based learning. In addition, it discussed the sustainability of academic systems, research and education ethics during conflicts, and the vital role of international cooperation in supporting higher education in fragile contexts.

This participation reflects Al-Quds University’s commitment to international academic engagement, strengthening research collaboration, and promoting the societal role of scholars.
