After an intensive and comprehensive field visit to all components of the academic and training program, as well as a thorough evaluation of the educational environment, academic facilities, infrastructure, and supporting institutional policies, the international team of the National Accreditation Commission for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) , recommended the accreditation of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at Al-Quds University for five years. This makes the department the first in Palestine, the second in the Middle East, and the third outside the United States to receive this prestigious accreditation. It is an unprecedented achievement for Al-Quds University.
This nomination is high international recognition of the department’s academic and professional excellence, the result of tremendous efforts and inspiring leadership by Al-Quds University’s Vice President for Medical and Health Affairs and Dean of the Faculty of Health Professions, Prof. Dr. Rania Abu Sir. Prof. Abu Sir has worked tirelessly to raise the standards of medical education and achieve institutional excellence at regional and international levels.
The university administration said, “We express our deep appreciation to the faculty members in the Department of Laboratory Medical Sciences, including professors and technicians, who formed the backbone of this success and contributed faithfully and professionally to raising the profile of Al-Quds University. We are also proud of our students, graduates, and partners in hospitals and laboratories. With their dedication and expertise, they embody the bright image of Palestine and the university in various fields. We congratulate Al-Quds University and Palestine on this global distinction.”.”
Professor Rania Abu Sir said, “This accreditation is not just an academic achievement, but a national victory that proves Palestine can reach the highest international standards in medical education despite all the challenges. We worked long and hard to achieve this dream, keeping in mind our students, graduates, and Palestinian society, which deserves the best. This is a proud moment for every Palestinian and for Al-Quds University, which has always been a beacon of science and excellence.”
Dr. Abu Sir stressed that NAACLS accreditation opens doors worldwide for graduates. This accreditation enables program graduates to apply for the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) exam and provides international recognition, enhancing their opportunities for higher education and employment inside and outside Palestine.
“This means that we are providing our students with a true worldwide career passport. The ASCP certification is a global gateway for Al-Quds University graduates because it is recognized in more than 30 countries. It is preferred in health systems in the Gulf, Canada, Britain, Australia, and other countries, which gives graduates more employment opportunities locally and internationally. It also enhances admission to master’s and doctoral programs, waives entrance exams, and gives applicants to medical and biomedical sciences schools a strong advantage. Additionally, the certificate contributes to higher earnings and leadership roles, making it a milestone in any graduate’s academic and professional career.”
