Salaheddin Odeh

rof. Dr. Eng. Salaheddin Odeh received his master’s degree in electrical engineering, from the University of Stuttgart (1992) and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Kassel (1998); both universities are in Germany.

Since 2002, he has been as a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Najjad Zeenni Faculty of Engineering. From 2004 to2007, he acted as chair of the Department of Computer Engineering and coordinator of the Master program. From 2012-2015, he was member of the board of directors of the supreme council for the adoption and rehabilitation of engineers – the Palestinian Engineers Association, and member of the scientific committee for engineering and science – Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Palestine.

From 1992 to 1998, he was a staff at Institute for Systems Engineering and Man-Machine System, University of Kassel-Germany, where he was involved in research projects about participative and multimodal design of human-machine interfaces in process control. The project was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

From 1998 until 2001, he acted as IT consultant with Sun Microsystems in the field of the operating system “Solaris” in two industrial projects of the German Post “Deutsche Post AG” and the Irish Bank “first e-solutions” in Darmstadt and Frankfurt in Germany.

In 1999, he was the recipient of the best doctoral thesis award from the Association of German Engineers (VDI) for his PhD thesis “Approximate Knowledge-based Process Visualization on the Basis of Fuzzy Logic”.

In 2012, he was the recipient of the IEEE best paper award for his research paper “E-Collaborative Remote Engineering Labs”, which was presented at IEEE EDUCON 2012: Global Engineering Education 2012, Marrakesh, Morocco, 17-20 April 2012.

From 2015-2017, he was the director of the Dual-Study Electrical Engineering Program. From 2017-2021, he was the dean and head of the Dual Studies project. Dual Studies is supported by the German Government BMZ (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development).

His research interests include educational remote labs, software engineering, control engineering, advanced programming, distributed systems and cloud computing, human-computer interaction, and image processing.
He has published more than fifty research papers in refereed scientific journals and conferences.
