Al-Quds University Welcomes Delegation from the French Consulate to Discuss Strengthening Academic Relations

President of Al-Quds University, Prof. Dr. Hanna Abdel Nour, welcomed a delegation from the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem during an official visit to the university. The visit aimed to review the progress of existing academic partnerships and explore avenues for further development and new collaborations.

The delegation included Ms. Anouk Duma, University and Institutional Cooperation Attaché at the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem; Mr. Romain de Tarle, Cultural Attaché and Acting Director of the French Institute Chateaubriand in Jerusalem; and Mr. Tarek Ghosheh, representative of Campus France in Palestine.

During the meetings, the delegation emphasized the importance of expanding academic and research cooperation to build high-quality academic programs that meet market needs and support the university’s strategic plans to attract and develop academic talent. This includes scholarship programs jointly offered by the university and the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem.

Prof. Dr. Abdel Nour discussed with Ms. Duma the challenges the university has faced over the past decades and how it has successfully overcome them, leading to the university’s current strong academic reputation. This is evidenced by international accreditation of programs such as the Bachelor of Medicine and the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences.

Prof. Dr. Abdel Nour also expressed his gratitude to the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem through Ms. Duma for the financial support and academic expertise it has provided. These contributions have played a key role in strengthening the university’s academic staff and enhancing its academic programs.

The delegation also met with a group of students and staff interested in pursuing master’s and doctoral programs. The meeting included discussions on available opportunities, application procedures, and various issues related to academic exchange.

In a related context, the delegation discussed establishing a collaboration between the French Institute Chateaubriand in Jerusalem and the Digital Communication Program at Al-Quds Bard College for Arts and Sciences, aiming to strengthen the university’s capacities in this field.

At the conclusion of the visit, both sides agreed on the importance of increasing the number of applicants for scholarship programs, promoting French language learning, and enhancing collaborative ties with French universities and academic institutions. These efforts are intended to support the university’s mission and strategic goals.
