Dr. Ikram Salah is a multidisciplinary scientist and academic with over ten years of experience in infectious disease epidemiology, molecular microbiology, molecular diagnostics, and disease ecology. She holds a PhD in Disease Ecology and Epidemiology from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, where she also completed two postdoctoral research fellowships focusing on disease ecology, infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and advanced molecular diagnostics.
Her research integrates molecular, epidemiological, and ecological approaches to investigate infectious disease transmission, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and emerging infectious diseases. Her expertise includes quantitative PCR (qPCR), digital PCR (dPCR), metagenomics, wastewater-based epidemiology, and molecular pathogen surveillance, with particular emphasis on One Health approaches.
Dr. Salah has experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, graduate research supervision, and interdisciplinary scientific collaboration. She has authored 13 peer-reviewed scientific publications in internationally recognized journals, including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), Eurosurveillance, Open Forum Infectious Diseases, mSphere, and Revista Ciencias Veterinarias. She has presented her research at international scientific conferences across Europe and the Middle East and is a member of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID).
She is committed to advancing molecular diagnostics, infectious disease research, and interdisciplinary scientific collaboration, with particular emphasis on addressing research priorities relevant to Palestine and the wider region.
