Master of Aesthetic Dentistry
The Master of Aesthetic Dentistry answers the regional demand for an advanced professional qualification. Al-Quds University offers this full-time postgraduate degree training program which permits the General Dental Practitioner to pursue a training pathway over a minimum of 2 years.
The program reinforces and builds upon basic skills developed during undergraduate dental training, and facilitates professional development. It prepares the candidate to work perfectly in the field of Restorative Dentistry in private practice, hospitals, community service, or to pursue an academic career in higher educational institutions.
Our mission is to provide a Master educational program in Palestine, in order to graduate highly qualified professionals to deliver compassionate and ethical Oro-facial health care services. The mission of the Master of Aesthetic Dentistry Program supports the Mission of the Faculty of Dentistry at Al-Quds University.
Urging from the University’s mission to remain the leading Arabic educational institute in Jerusalem, the school of dentistry will dig in the roots of High Dental Education in our occupied region and exist to stand tall against all health obstacles and educational needs.
The Master program is designed for the general dentist who has already taken the first step
towards the field of esthetic dentistry. It aims to qualify students for demanding aesthetic
treatment options by enhancing their methodological and professional skills as well as increasing their awareness for the importance of objective evaluation of esthetic cases. Since all areas of dentistry need to be considered in order to achieve excellent esthetics results, topics like oral- and maxillofacial surgery, dental prosthetics, periodontology, restorative dentistry, orthodontics and dental technology will be addressed in a well-balanced way throughout the whole program.
The program also presents you the opportunity to improve your comprehensive skills across all dental disciplines, especially in designing and applying the best treatment options.
Today, dental technology is rapidly evolving with the help of digital technology. Dentistry is undergoing a comprehensive digitalization process with developments in areas such as software and 3D printing. Digital Dentistry has its branches within every discipline of dentistry evolving the care provided for patients with ease.
The main goal of this program is to provide general dentists with the skills set to plan complex esthetic cases, to form the ideal therapeutic team for the individual esthetic case and to effectively head this team. The general goals of the program are:
- Provide the student with sufficient knowledge about the Aesthetic dentistry principles of examination, diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Give students the proper knowledge about dental implantology, especially in the Aesthetic zone, which will include the planning and performing prosthesis over implants.
- Increase students’ knowledge about modern dentistry tools including CAD/CAM and laser in aesthetic dentistry. As well as, using digital dentistry as a tool in treating aesthetic patients.
- Enhance students’ abilities in critical evaluation and interpretation of research in the field of Aesthetic dentistry, dental Implantology, modern dental tools applications.
- Enhance students’ skills of dentist laboratory communication using the appropriate tools and language.
- Promote students’ skills in performing complicated, direct and indirect aesthetic restorations.
- Provide students an opportunity to enrich their academic research capabilities in a specialized area in aesthetic and restorative dentistry.
Since the master of Aesthetic Dentistry is concerned with aesthetic dentistry and restorations of teeth and implants, the following learning objectives must be achieved:
1. Knowledge outcomes
- By the end of this program, students should be able to:
- Recognize the importance of creating a harmonic relationship between aesthetic smile and functional occlusion in finding a healthy masticatory system.
- Identify the materials, indication to use and ways of fabrication for all dental procedures in aesthetic dentistry and to recognize the steps, details and tools used in examination, diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Define how to make a prosthetically driven implants planning in aesthetic and non-aesthetic zone.
- Identify multidisciplinary dentistry and the importance of performing dental procedures through team work and explain the differences between digital and conventional dental tools and the prosthodontics and restorative treatments for each one.
- Explain the principles of restorative dentistry including adhesion to teeth and restorative materials, teeth restorability and evidence based decision of the appropriate restoration method.
2. Intellectual skills: By the end of this program students should be able to:
- Discuss more advanced knowledge and skills in addition to those covered in the core modules to plan, diagnose, and perform treatment of simple to complex cases.
- Relate the scope of dental implantology on the daily clinical work.
- Evaluate the principles of multidisciplinary approach in aesthetic and restorative dentistry.
3. Professional skills: By the end of this program students should be able to:

Digital Dentistry ( 2 Hours )
This is a theoretical and practical course aimed to give the student the basic and advanced science of digital dentistry including the theoretical science and the practical skills. In this course the student will learn everything related to CAD/CAM, starting by scanning strategies and ending by designing restorations or guides by different softwares.
Minimally invasive aesthetic strategies (1 Hour)
This course introduces a number of ultraconservative treatment strategies for the anterior aesthetic zone and how clinicians face many treatment modalities that become applicable to a variety of patients . This will allow the use of the most conservative treatment that allows maximum amount of intact tissues while still complying with the biomimetic principles .
Dental Implantology ( 2 Hours )
This is a theoretical and practical course that will provide the student the traditional and contemporary ways to develop the skills to be able to restore dental implants in straightforward cases and more extreme difficult cases . Also will cover the key aspects of restorative dentistry of dental implants to provide evidence based safe and predictable treatments of students’ own cases. Knowledge of topics such as occlusion and use of articulators provides additional grounding for the student to treat, plan a case and then restore an implant to deliver a successful implant prosthesis.
Fixed Prosthodontics II ( 1 Hour)
This is a practical course through which the students will continue practicing restorative/Prosthodontic treatments for their patients , Including crown bridge workflows , direct and indirect aesthetic restorations .
Advanced Dental Aesthetics (2 Hours )
This is a theoretical and practical Course will provide the student to fulfill all information necessary to make optimal Aesthetic treatment outcomes with long term stability .Also to achieve the highest and best outcome of dental esthetics through multidisciplinary approach that may require a teamwork in different fields of dental specialties( Periodontics , surgery and Orthodontics) that is usually the key of success, to come up with the most conservative, practical and biologically sound interdisciplinary treatment plan possible.
Aesthetic and supportive periodontal therapy(1 hour)
This course will cover a comprehensive education in all phases of periodontal- surgical relationships with prostho-aesthetic restorations. It emphasize a multidisciplinary approach to treat clinically complex cases
General Objectives (Aims) : The primary goal of this course is to provide students the knowledge and skills of advanced integration between prosthodontics and periodontics interrelationships and to obtain an excellent clinical protocols to obtain successful treatment for their own patients.
Fixed Prosthodontics III ( 3 hours )
The course is a theoretical and practical course which is a continuation for basic Fixed Prosthodontics courses and clinics. In this course the concepts of modern evidenced based prosthetic dentistry are introduced. A great emphasis is put on comprehensive treatment planning and the students will practice a step by step how tooth- and implant-supported fixed dental treatments are carried out. Also to expand student knowledge in analyzing and creating complex treatment plans regarding multi clinical cases
Multidisciplinary treatment approaches ( 3 hours )
This is a theoretical and practical course in which Orthodontic-Aesthetic considerations, Micro- Mini Aesthetic and other rehabilitation aesthetic related topics will be given during the course.
