Al-Quds University signed a memorandum of understanding with Kazan Federal University in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, aimed at expanding academic and scientific cooperation and strengthening the partnership between the two universities in higher education, scientific research, academic exchange, and training.
The memorandum was signed during an official visit by an Al-Quds University delegation to Kazan Federal University, headed by Al-Quds University President Prof. Dr. Imad Abu Kishek. During the visit, the delegation met with the Rector of Kazan Federal University, Dr. Lenar Rinatovich Safin, as well as several university officials, academics, and researchers, including Professor Andrey Pavlovich Kiyasov, Director of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology, and officials responsible for medical education and scientific research.
The two sides discussed and sought paths to advance cooperation in several academic and research fields of mutual interest, including medicine and medical sciences, engineering, computer science, the social sciences and humanities, and earth and environmental sciences. They also explored opportunities to develop educational and training programs and undertake joint research projects.
The discussions also addressed opportunities to promote academic exchanges involving students, faculty members, and researchers, as well as cooperation in staff training and capacity-building for personnel at academic institutions. In addition, the two sides considered the possibility of utilizing the resources and capabilities of the Cairo branch of Kazan Federal University to support their areas of cooperation.
Prof. Dr. Imad Abu Kishek emphasized the importance of establishing strategic partnerships with leading Russian universities to enhance the quality of education and scientific research and create new opportunities for Al-Quds University’s students, researchers, and faculty members. He also praised Kazan Federal University’s distinguished academic and scientific standing.
For his part, the Rector of Kazan Federal University, Dr. Lenar Safin, stressed the importance of strengthening academic relations with Al-Quds University. He noted Kazan university’s interest in expanding cooperation with universities across the Islamic world and described Al-Quds University as an important academic partner in Palestine, given its expertise and capabilities in education and scientific research.
On the medical front, the Al-Quds University delegation met with the leadership of Kazan Federal University’s Higher School of Medicine to explore opportunities for cooperation in medical education, clinical training, and scientific research, as well as the exchange of academic and medical expertise. The two sides also discussed developing joint programs and initiatives to benefit Al-Quds University medical students by providing access to the Russian university’s advanced medical and scientific expertise and resources.
The visit concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding, establishing a formal framework for cooperation in scientific research, educational and training programs, academic exchange, and professional development. The agreement paves the way for the two universities to launch joint projects and programs in the coming period.
Both sides affirmed that the memorandum marks a further step toward building a sustainable academic partnership and strengthening educational and scientific ties between Palestine and the Russian Federation. It will create broader opportunities for collaboration and benefit students, researchers, and academic institutions in both countries.
This partnership reflects Al-Quds University’s commitment to expanding its network of international academic relations, strengthening its presence in the global education and research community, and forging institutional partnerships with leading universities to support the advancement of higher education and scientific research in Palestine.
