The Center for Jerusalem Studies at Al-Quds University published its third English volume of its peer-reviewed Al-Maqdisiyyah Journal on June 15, 2026. Published semi-annually in Summer and Winter, the latest issue features a thematic section of six studies on “Education and Jerusalem.”

Four of these studies center on educational actors in East Jerusalem as they confront eradication, while two focus on Arab and Islamic curricula and doctoral dissertations regarding Jerusalem that form part of the “Jerusalem Studies Knowledge Project.”

This edition also contains special articles on the history of the neighborhood of Silwan and the reconstruction of al-Aqsa Mosque during the British Mandate.

Writing about this edition, Editor-in-Chief Walid Salem noted, “It is hoped that the studies in the thematic section of this issue will pave the way for deeper studies regarding everything mentioned about the educational structure and its actors in East Jerusalem and how they contribute to building resilience, or national, cultural, and social fortitude.”

The journal is published twice a year, in the summer and winter, and the journal is fully open-access and available online. Readers can access the volume directly at the official portal: https://maqdisyya.alquds.edu/index.php/maqdisyya/en.

Submissions are also currently open for the upcoming Winter 2026 edition, which will focus on tangible and intangible heritage in Jerusalem.
