Al-Quds University opened a gym for female students at the Tenzile Erdoğan Dormitory in coordination with the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Department of Physical Education and in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund and the Palestinian Medical Relief Society as part of efforts to promote students’ physical and mental well-being.

Prof. Dr. Imad Abu Kishek emphasized that establishing a gym for female students had been a goal the university had long sought to achieve so that it could serve as a distinguished model accompanying students throughout their university life and help relieve psychological stress while promoting a healthy lifestyle. He also noted that efforts to further develop the dormitory will continue in order to maintain it as a safe and integrated environment for practicing various activities.

For his part, Dr. Yahya Al-Zaq, the representative of the United Nations Population Fund, explained that this initiative reflects the importance of supporting mental health and investing in female students, given its role in enhancing communication and easing daily stress. He also affirmed the partnership’s commitment to achieving developmental goals that serve female students.

In turn, Ms. Sabreen Obeidallah pointed out that the gym represents a safe space that contributes to strengthening female students’ physical and mental well-being and serves as an extension of the Student Empowerment Unit. She noted that it is not merely a sports facility but a supportive environment that enhances students’ resilience, expressing her gratitude to Dr. Mazen Al-Khatib for his efforts in bringing the project to life.

It is worth noting that the female student dormitory at the university was built through a grant from the President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Through this facility, the university seeks to provide integrated services, including recreational facilities, green spaces, and a cafeteria, in addition to a 24-hour security system to ensure the comfort and safety of the students.
