The Language Center at Al-Quds University is part of the University Requirement Unit under the Office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs. It offers English Language courses and foreign language electives and hosts around 10,000 students per academic year.

Placement test
The Center conducts the ITP TOEFL Level 2 for incoming freshman students to assess their English language proficiency upon enrollment.
The TOEFL ITP® tests are highly respected English language assessments, helping students attend English-speaking academic institutions all over the world.
Courses
Our English courses are divided into five courses. Each course is assigned a level that correlates with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) with the lowest being A2 up to Level C1:
(0400170, 0400171, and 0400172) covering the four main language skills
(0400184 and 0400185) with each one focusing on two correlated skills (Reading & Writing / Listening & Speaking)
Furthermore, we offer foreign language courses such as Chinese, German, Hebrew, Spanish and Turkish, aligning with CEFR levels A1 and A2.

Aligned with our mission, both AMRA and AMIDEAST contribute significantly to our language center. They offer access to TOEFL ITP examinations, ensuring our students receive quality language assessment services for academic and professional success. Additionally, they provide English Discoveries, a cutting-edge language learning platform tailored to our students’ diverse needs.
With well-designed assessments and innovative methodologies, our partners enrich the learning experience, fostering linguistic proficiency and cultural understanding among our students.
Through our partnership with the Confucius Center, students gain access to authentic language resources, immersive experiences, and invaluable insights into Chinese language and culture. The Confucius Institute at Al-Quds University (CIAQU) aims to strengthen academic and educational cooperation among Chinese universities by means of Chinese language teaching and cultural exchanges, so as to meet Palestinians’ growing need for Chinese language learning, to enhance the Palestinian people’s understanding of Chinese languages and culture, to inherit and consolidate the traditional friendship among the two peoples, and to promote mutually beneficial collaborations between the two countries.
As an integral part of our campus community, DAAD maintains a permanent office on-site. Through our partnership with DAAD, students can enroll in German (intensive) language courses, get to know German culture, and receive assistance in obtaining scholarships for study or research in Germany, further expanding their horizons and enriching their academic journey. Moreover, the DAAD office cooperates closely with the university in obtaining partnerships with German universities and supports individual staff members in organizing research projects and study visits.
Our partnership with the Ramallah Yunus Emre Türk Kültür Merkezi strengthens our commitment to promoting Turkish language and culture. Additionally, the cultural center provides access to scholarships to support students in their studies and activities related to Turkish language and culture. This partnership offers students unique pathways to engage with this rich heritage, furthering their academic and personal growth.

Staff Members
Abed Alrahman Radaydah holds an MA in Teaching Methods (English Program) and a BA in English Language and Literature. His interests lie in developing innovative teaching strategies and promoting effective language acquisition and literacy development. Abed Alrahman is particularly passionate about integrating technology into education to enhance learning experiences and engage students more effectively. As he plays a vital role as a technical committee member at the University’s Language Center.
Aseel Saad holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature and a minor in Business Administration from Al-Quds University (2022). She is a member of the technical committee at the Language Center, where she believes in developing innovative language teaching methods and fostering an engaging learning environment that encourages active participation.
Aya Abu Damous holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature from Al-Quds University and is a member of the technical committee at the Language Center. She believes in employing modern trends and student-centered learning to foster a relatable environment that sparks students’ interest.
Azhar Khalaileh is an educator who holds a BA in English Language and Literature from Al-Quds University and an MA in Teaching Methods (English program) from Al-Quds Bard College. She is a member of the curricular committee at Al-Quds University’s Languages Center. Azhar’s recent educational research has focused on developing higher-order thinking skills for teaching English as a second language through the flipped classroom strategy. Her interests also include the philosophies of education, educational development, cross-cultural educational management, and leadership..
Bushra Qrei has a passion for empowering students’ language skills through engaging and enjoyable learning activities. She holds an MA in Translation and Interpreting and a BA in Applied English, bringing both academic expertise and practical experience to her teaching.
Eman Qaisiyeh has a strong focus on advancing education through innovative approaches and effective teaching strategies. She holds an MA in Teaching Methods (English Program) and a BA in English Language and Teaching Methods, bringing a wealth of expertise in language teaching methodology to her work.
Fatima Abu Khater Adileh is an assistant professor who holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction (English Language) from The Jordanian University. She has actively contributed to numerous national and international conferences and symposiums on English language teaching and learning, where she presented many research papers. Fatima has also played a key role in various training courses and workshops at institutions like AMIDEAST, Birzeit University, Al-Quds University, and others. She earned a Professional Certificate in English Language Teaching (PCELT) from AMIDEAST in 2017 and received the Erasmus+ Scholarship by the International Credit Mobility Programme of the European Union at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal, in 2019.
Hani Abdo holds a PGdip in Literature and Philosophy from the University of Sussex (2018), an MA in European Studies from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (2014) and a BA of English Language and Literature from Al-Quds University. Hani is the head of the Technical Committee at the Language center. He is PCELT-certified (Professional Certificate in English Language Teaching), HESPAL awardee and Steering Committee Member of PELTA’s Jerusalem Chapter (Palestinian English Language Teacher’s Association). His research interests focus on; identity politics in literature, exilic literature & Palestinian literature.
Iman Al-Hemri holds an MA in English Literature from the Arab American University (2019) and a BA in English Literature and Translation from Bethlehem University (2011). Currently pursuing a PhD in International Relations at the Arab American University (2022), Iman brings a unique interdisciplinary approach to her teaching. Her research interests focus on combining international relations with English and literature, exploring how English language teaching (ELT) promotes cultural diplomacy and identity, and emphasizing performance-based and task-based learning methods.
Jehad Qadamani is dedicated to focusing on the intellectual development of students by combining both theoretical and practical insights. He holds an MA in Teaching Methods (English Program) and a BA in English Language and Literature. Jehad uses a variety of techniques and strategies in his teaching, aiming to create an enthusiastic and enjoyable learning atmosphere. As he plays a vital role as a technical committee member at the University’s Language Center.
Jenan Adel holds an MA in Teaching from Bard College and a BA in English Language and Literature from Al-Quds University. She is an active member of the Curriculum Committee at the Language Center, contributing to the development of effective programs for students. Her research interests focus on innovative teaching methodologies, particularly the role of brainstorming in improving students’ writing skills. She is passionate about empowering ESL learners to build confidence and fluency through interactive, practice-based learning.
Leila Ayyad has an MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from Al-Quds University and a BA in English Language and Literature from Bethlehem University. She is currently a postgraduate student at Tel-Aviv University in the department of English and American Literature. Leila is the head of the Curriculum Committee at the Language Center, and her research interests include Orientalism, Lacanian analysis, Human rights in American literature, and postcolonial literature in the Arab world post 9/11.
Manar Owais is dedicated to fostering an enjoyable, dynamic, and culturally rich learning environment. She holds an MA in Translation and Interpreting and a BA in English Language, combining her academic background with a passion for effective and engaging teaching.
Mohammad Ibrahim is a holder of a BA in English Language and Literature and is currently pursuing an MA in Teaching Methodologies (English Program) at Al-Quds Bard. With a passion for education and linguistics, he plays a vital role as a technical committee member at the University’s Language Center, contributing to language development initiatives and innovative teaching methodologies.
began his education career as an English language teacher in 2014. He holds a Master’s Degree in English Literature from the University of Jordan (2017) and a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and Language from Birzeit University (2012). His research interests in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) include “the impact of the virtual classroom on second language acquisition (SLA),” “narrative and identity in language learning,” “performance-based learning and assessment,” and “task-based learning.”
Omayma Qaraqra believes in sharing not just the English language with her students, but the story of language as a whole. She works collaboratively with her students to uncover and address their individual needs and strengths, all centered around the ability to effectively express oneself and communicate with others. Omayma holds an MA in Teaching Methods (English Program) from Al-Quds Bard College and a BA in English Language and Literature from Al-Quds University where her Master’s research focused on the impact of using peer feedback strategies on students’ writing.
Riham Naser Al-Deen holds a BA in English Language and Literature and is currently pursuing an MA in Translation and Interpreting. She is passionate about guiding her students on their journey of learning English as a second language by creating a supportive and interactive environment where they feel empowered to think critically and express themselves freely.
Sara Wazwaz holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature and a minor in Business Administration from Al-Quds University (2022).
