About

  • Akram Miqdad Akram  is an Assistant Professor in the Language Center, College of Arts, Alquds University. His specialization (MA and PhD) is General Linguistics(French,English and Arabic) (second language acquisition and TESOL) from the University of Frnache-Comte -Besancon (France). His research interests centre on second language acquisition (SLA); task-based language learning and teaching; L2 writing research, pedagogy and instruction ; and non-native English speaking teachers (NNESTs) in TESOL.
  • Akram Miqdad  teaches courses in English Language 107,108,109  and French Language 113 and 114.
  • His Ph.D. thesis looked at the form and structure in the Lawrentian Narratives.

Research interests

Akram’s main research interests: Linguistics, Translation, Methodology of Translation and Teaching Methods Pedagogy, Linguistic Anthropology

Present Position:

Professor of general linguistics (French- English – Arabic and their applications to the teaching of these languages), Al-Quds University Language center/ Faculty of Arts, (1990-Present).

Seminar for Excellence in Teaching part 1(SET): SET is a two-part, 80-hour certificate program that exposes faculty to a variety of teaching approaches and key issues associated with course design.  The goal is to encourage an understanding of the university teacher as a professional scholar ready to engage in teaching that is informed by research and discussion of models of good practice. SET helps faculty cope with the increasing demands  for  professionalism  within  Palestinian  higher education. Applications are currently closed for the next SET which will occur in July 2008.
