Jerusalem | Al-Quds University (AQU) recently held a virtual meeting with the International Medical Education Trust 2000, marking the launch of an imminent cooperation program between both sides. The Zoom meeting was opened by the President of Al-Quds University, Prof. Imad Abu Kishek, and was attended by 350 participants from the faculties of Medicine and Engineering along with clinical trainers.

Abu Kishek welcomed the participants and expressed his gratitude to Dr. Malik Mazen, a key member of the International Medical Education Trust (IMET2000) who is also the Director General of the Palestine branch (IMET2000-Pal), besides being an academic at Wales University Hospital and member of the Association of British Neurologists.

Dean of the Faculty of Health Professions Dr. Rania Abu Sir expressed her happiness for the cooperation between AQU and IMET2000 which aims at improving the research skills and training expertise of AQU’s medical students. She added that the cooperation between both sides will offer scholarships to the students that will enable them to participate in international conferences and join training courses at local and international hospitals.

It is worth noting that the virtual meeting comes within the efforts of both sides to sign a cooperation agreement in order to provide grants in the areas of mental health, field trainings, teacher education, and scientific research.

The International Medical Education Trust (IMET2000-Pal) is a British registered charity that aims to educate tomorrow’s generation of health professionals to meet with global experiences.

IMET2000-Pal was established in 2008, with the main objective of developing the skills of medical staff to meet with international and global experiences. It focuses on newly graduated doctors, nurses and medical workers to train them to gain experiences in practical life by dealing with injuries in accidents, war, and other disasters, besides providing health care to children with learning disabilities, among others.
