Earth & Enviornmental Sciences

The Department of   Earth and Environmental Sciences was established in the year 1997 to be a pioneer academic center for teaching environmental and earth sciences. The program offers practical training on Geology, environmental chemistry, environmental impact assessment, Geophysics and Geographic Information System.

The main goals of the department are:

  1. To create adequate atmosphere for scientific research and to achieve the implementation of earth and environmental sciences in different fields of development. The Department program is designed to train students' in most environmental issues, pertinent to present day national, regional and global dimensions affecting man and its habitat.

  1. Training and developing local and scientific staff in the field of applied earth and environmental sciences and their different application as well as participating in the national and international efforts for the achievement of sustainable development.
  2. Taking care of environmental elements and  natural  resources and their protection from  exploitation and pollution considering the factors of economic development and achieving policy for utilization of the natural resources. This will be achieved through academic work and services and scientific consulting works.
  3. The Department has well equipped research laboratories in different branches of earth and environmental sciences. The department is sharing in studies, projects and research activities in the fields of   earth sciences and environmental sciences carrying out research in hydrology, hydrogeology, Environmental pollution, Ecology, Aquatic Environment radiation and Aquaculture.
