Overview

 

The roots of the Faculty of Law lie in the Palestinian School of Law. Established in 1992, the School was the first of its kind in Palestine, offering comparative law studies, which focused on local Palestinian law and on the applied law of different countries throughout the world. Becoming the Faculty of Law of Al-Quds University in 1996, the Faculty continues in the tradition established by the Law School. There are currently 500 students enrolled in the Faculty.

 

The objectives of the Faculty of Law include: to provide Palestine with qualified experts who are capable of assisting with the development of the legal structures of Palestine and the consolidation of its legal principles and democratic concepts; to give special training courses for those working in the field such as lawyers, judges, and legal consultants; to encourage and support legal research; to promote the concepts of human rights, peace, and democracy in Palestinian society.

 

The research interests of the members of the Faculty of Law are numerous and wide-ranging. In addition, the members regularly host conferences and workshops and attend those hosted by other universities both locally and abroad.

 

Degrees and Specializations

The Faculty of Law offers a program of study, which leads to the award of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law. The student must complete 144 credit hours according to the general requirements of the University, the Faculty, and the Department of Law.

 

General Requirements

Applicants for admission to the Faculty of Law must have completed the General Secondary Certificate (Tawjihi) or its equivalent with an academic average of at least 70%.  The student must complete 21 credit hours of Courses required by the Faculty. The courses are compulsory, studied by all students within the Faculty.
