Harvard Student Delegation Hosted by Al-Quds University

Graduate students of Harvard University have visited Al-Quds University as part of a comprehensive visit to Palestine for a study on the humanitarian situations caused by the Israeli occupation and its policies.

The visit started off with a discussion between students of AQU and Harvard on the direct and indirect effects of the occupation on the humanitarian affairs and the livelihoods of civilians living under occupation. The visit also included a tour on AQU’s campus with a brief introduction to the history of the university’s establishment and constant development despite of the segregation walls surrounding the campus, and how this continuous work by the university has to face a multitude of challenges incurred by the occupation on Palestinian institutions in general, and Jerusalemite institutions in particular.

At the end of the visit, the visiting students expressed their admiration for the development model AQU embodies and the capability Palestinian institutions exhibits in reaching advanced levels while having t deal with the innumerable obstacles put by the occupation.

This visit comes as a part of a larger frame of arrangements AQU’s president, Professor Imad Abu Kishek had with Harvard’s Middle East programs, which sets the foundation for future academic cooperation between the two institutions.
