The department of mathematics is one of the fundamental departments of the College of Science and Technology since its establishment in 1981. From the start up to date, the department of mathematics has been a community of devoted and professional members in both teaching and research. This is a consequence of our believe that a major objective of the department of mathematics is to contribute in building a society that highly appreciate the value of science and technology. The department of mathematics awards the Bachelors degree and Masters degree in mathematics. Besides that the department of mathematics offers courses that serve other faculties and programs at Al-Quds University. The department of mathematics offers different courses in mathematics and statistics such as: Real Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Complex Analysis, Abstract Algebra, Linear Algebra, Applied Mathematics, Differential Equations (Ordinary and Partial), Integral Equations, Euclidean Geometry, Logic, Number Theory, Numerical Methods for Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations and Integrals Equations, Mathematical Statistics, Probability, Sampling Surveys, Applied Statistics and Topology. Furthermore, the department offers many elective courses that cover topics from Pure and Applied Mathematics as well as Statistics. As mentioned, the staff of the Department of Mathematics conducts research in various areas of Mathematics and its applications. The department offers four programs leading to: Full Major Mathematics, Major/Minor in Mathematics, Minor in Mathematics, Minor in Statistics, it also awards a two tracks Master Degree in Mathematics: Thesis track and Non-Thesis Comprehensive Exam Track. It is our believe that abstract thinking is a highly ranked thinking that enables societies to develop with regard to all aspects of life. This believe is the motivation that, we think, will have a major effect on the future choice of the next palestinian generation, and as mathematicians we are committed to this way of thinking. |
