Faculty of Engineering

Dean's message

Since the faculty of engineering was established a couple of decades ago, we have produced hundreds of graduates. Some of them are founders and leaders of many successful enterprises; whereas, many of them are playing active roles in industry and elsewhere. Currently, the faculty consists of five programs namely, electronics engineering, Computer engineering, Materials engineering and the Master of Electronics and computer engineering.

Through the introduction of these novel programs, the faculty of engineering has maintained its long-standing reputation for unique teaching that impresses strong basic knowledge for sound practice in engineering for the well-being of community. Our departments provide their students with the best possible education to master theoretical and practical knowledge of engineering proficiencies as well as to acquire additional competencies such as communications, planning, creative thinking, problem solving, leadership, teamwork, critical judgment, social responsibility, and a sense of ethical and economic values. Obtaining these competencies transform our graduates into thinking citizens and lifelong learners. Furthermore, our ambition is to enable our students to initiate their own projects, assume positions of technical leadership and professional responsibility in industry, government and various sectors of economy and achieve full satisfaction in their jobs, or in graduate studies, upon graduation.

We have set for ourselves, for the next few years, the following specific tasks to maintain our uniqueness and reputation:

  • Introduce cooperative education and internship opportunities to be an integral part of our programs. Through work for a few months, students will learn to implement theory into practice and complement their academic work with an on-the-job knowledge.
  • Initiate hands-on project-based and research activities to provide our students with extensive laboratory, design experience and close interaction with exceptional faculty at the forefront of their fields.
  • Establish and strengthen tight and mutual cooperative and collaborative relationships in between departments, with other professional faculties as well as with community sectors such as private and public sector, industry, and counterparts faculties in local, regional and global universities, the engineering and information Technology faculties in particular.

On this site, readers will find an explicit description of the curricula, academic goals, educational objectives as well as the Intended Learning Outcomes of each of the offered engineering programs. As expected, these goals and objectives dictate the curricula and degree requirements.

On behalf of the entire Faculty of Engineering members and staff, welcome. We remain committed to excellence in engineering education, community involvement and research.
