The Physical education department was published as a department of art faculty with single specialization in 1998; it gives a Bachelor in physical education. It is one of the biggest departments from the departments of art faculty it has almost 400 students. The policy of acceptance based on: - The GPA of students should be as the art faculty set it in that year. - The student should be medically fit. - The student should involve the fitness exam and should pass it; it sets as an acceptance paper in the department. - after the student get the acceptance in the physical education department he should pass the two courses, Anatomy and physical preparation, with a mark not less than 65% so as to continue as a student in the department. · The goals of the department are: - prepare students specializing in Physical education according to modern education methods, and that through the transmission for student knowledge and the theoretical and practical skills. - Graduate teachers and coaches qualified for physical education that can get involved into the clubs and schools. - Graduate teachers for the first stage of education at schools through the minor in physical education. - prepare sports staff to participate in the group and single activities, local and International. - provide the Palestinian national teams with player, for local and international sports activity. - Provide referee staff for the different kinds of sports.
· The role played by the department in the Palestinian society. - doing training courses for the young clubs. - Interaction with the local community to spread the sport and health culture and fitness necessary to do so. - helping in referee and management activities and tournaments that are held by the ministry of education. - Cooperation with the sports federation and ministry of youth and sports in providing developing the sports staff. - Cooperation with the Palestinian universities, and exchange of visits and doing the friendly and official tournaments. - follow up the graduated students in their works and helping them to get a job. - Graduate teachers and coaches for providing the schools and clubs affiliated to ministry of youth and sports. |
