Membership
- Department/program chair or head (Chair)
- All department or program teaching staff
Functions
The Department Council has the following responsibilities:
- Presents recommendations to the Faculty Council regarding the progress and developments of the teaching plans
- Finalizes departmental curriculum
- Promotes academic research
- Reviews job applications
- Decides on the work of the departmental faculty and teaching assistants
- Sets up examination boards
- Approves final grades
- Reviews all results before forwarding to Admissions and Registration
- Recommends to the Dean all exemptions and exceptions
- Prepares the department's budget plan and forwards it to the Dean
- Reviews proposals and issues raised by the Dean or by the department/program chairs/heads
- Reviews the Chair's annual report.
