Membership

  • Department/program chair or head (Chair)
  • All department or program teaching staff

 

Functions

The Department Council has the following responsibilities:

  • Presents recommendations to the Faculty Council regarding the progress and developments of the teaching plans
  • Finalizes departmental curriculum
  • Promotes academic research
  • Reviews job applications
  • Decides on the work of the departmental faculty and teaching assistants
  • Sets up examination boards
  • Approves final grades
  • Reviews all results before forwarding to Admissions and Registration
  • Recommends to the Dean all exemptions and exceptions
  • Prepares the department's budget plan and forwards it to the Dean
  • Reviews proposals and issues raised by the Dean or by the department/program chairs/heads
  • Reviews the Chair's annual report.
