Academic Council

The Academic Council is the highest Academic authority. Its main function consists in developing and revising the University academic programs, rules, regulations, and policies.

 

Membership

  • Vice-President for Academic Affairs (Chair). 
  • Vice-President for Planning and Development. 
  • Deans of   faculties.
  • Dean of Admission and Registration.
  • Two faculty members ( with the  rank of assistant professor or higher) elected from each faculty.
  • Representative from the Student Conciliate.

 

Functions

  • Set and review university academic policies and programs.
  • Change and revise academic programs and courses.
  • Recommend the opening of new faculties and expanding existing ones.
  • Coordinate between all the faculties and departments in order to enhance interdepartmental cooperation.
  • Review the Chair's annual report before forwarding it to the university President.
  • Approve graduating students  by ensuring the completion of all -graduation requirements.
  • Supervise the work of the Graduate Studies Council.
