The International Conference on the Palestinian Refugees Issue
November 25th & 26th, 2006
Introduction:
The Palestinian Refugees problem is usually seen as the most difficult issue that will face the negotiators. Other problems such as the borders, the water distribution, the future of the Jewish Settlements in the West Bank, and even Sovereignty over Jerusalem are normally seen to be less complicated.
For the great importance of this issue, and after the significant political changes in the region, Al-Quds University has decided to conduct a two-day conference between 25th and 26th November, 2006, that aims at bringing together representatives of PLO, PLC, refugees representatives, officials and civil society organizations working on the issue of refugees as well as academics and international experts to discuss issues related to the refugee question.
During the conference, a number of distinguished speakers will present papers concerning this sensitive issue. The presentations will be followed by discussions. At the end of the conference a book which will include the full papers presented by the speakers, recommendations and a summery of the discussions outcome; will be published. The book will be disseminated to all the PNA Ministries, PLC members, Government Offices and Institutions, Universities, UN Agencies and Research Centers.
